cyber0ne
Is there a way (natively supported, or via any clever tricks that CSS gurus have found) to perform alpha blending purely in CSS? A quick example would be the screenshot at:http://www.templatesbox.com/templates/253.htmI know their implementation does that with images (their implementations tend to be VERY image-heavy, actually), but I'm wondering if there's a way to accomplish that effect over the flower in the corner just using CSS (thus avoiding that whole mess of lining up images manually and just hoping that the user doesn't change their font size, etc.).Possible? Or wishful thinking at this point?
aspnetguy
for IE you will need to look at filter:alpha(opactiy=##), for FF you will need to use opacity: 0.#.I think Opera uses somthing different aswell but I am not sure.EXAMPLE .className{ filter:alpha(opacity=50); opacity: .5;} This sets the element's opacity to 50%
Jonas
Opera does not yet (as of version 8.5x) support CSS transparency, no. It will from version 9 though, support CSS transparency as declared in the W3C CSS 3.0 spesification. As of now, you can use a mixture of PNG alpha transparency (which is not supported by IE) and CSS transparency (not supported by Opera) to make cross-browser transparency.Like it's done here:http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/flyout_horizontal.htmlhttp://www.cssplay.co.uk/opacity/opaque.pngThis one again is done only with PNG transparency, and does not work in IE(<6). Very cool effect though in FF and Opera.
