justsomeguy
The page I linked to lists 6 applications that save files with that extension. Maybe it's one of those, maybe it's not. You know absolutely nothing about this file that you are trying to open? Why do you need to open it then?
hisoka
In the page you linked to , this is mentioned : Other applications associated with file type NTX What does "an application that is associated with a file type" mean? yes , although I read some article about NTX file , I know nothing about it . Could you explain it to me? "Why do you need to open it then?" To see its content .
Ingolme
"Application" means a program. Applications are associated with file types. Adobe Reader is associated with PDF files, Microsoft Word is associated with .doc files, Windows Media Player is associated with WMA files. You need to figure out where your file came from. I assume it didn't just appear on your computer out of nowhere. Who gave you the file?
justsomeguy
What does "an application that is associated with a file type" mean?Which word in that sentence do you not understand?yes , although I read some article about NTX file , I know nothing about it . Could you explain it to me?No. I know as much about it as you do."Why do you need to open it then?"To see its content .Then you need to figure out which program was used to create the file, and therefore which program you use to open it. You might start by asking whoever sent the file to you. You can open it with a text or hex editor if you want to see the actual data.
hisoka
"Which word in that sentence do you not understand?" Associated with When it is written : Other applications associated with file type NTX:Clipper Index Network Terminal Accelerator Adapter Card Configuration Information NTX Web Audio File The Mime types used with this association are: audio/x-ntx. PIMS Notes for Windows CE (Text Note File) by Nacetech Co., Ltd.[Korean site] The Nacetech PIMS application ships with some Korean-made PDAs - e.g. DOT320. This association is classified as Text. yEnc32 (yEncoded File) Related links: yEncoding Format it means that the above applications for example like Clipper Index or yEnc32 can open NTX file ? is this what it means ? "Then you need to figure out which program was used to create the file, and therefore which program you use to open it" You mean the program I used to create a file is the same program with which I can open this file ? can a file be created by mutiple programs or each file can be created only by one program and therefore opened only by that specific program ? justsomeguy
it means that the above applications for example like Clipper Index or yEnc32 can open NTX file ? is this what it means ?"Associated with" is a fairly general term. The applications in that list are somehow associated with that file type. Maybe they read it, maybe they write it. They are somehow associated with it.You mean the program I used to create a file is the same program with which I can open this file ?To create *a* file? I mean the program that created *that* file can open *that* file. If you open Excel and save an Excel spreadsheet, then you can use Excel to open it again. Other programs might be able to open it also if they have support for Excel files, but you can always use Excel.can a file be created by mutiple programs or each file can be created only by one program and therefore opened only by that specific program ?A given file is created by a single program. Maybe other programs can read or edit it, but a specific file was created by a specific program. A file type might be able to be created by several programs. Think about JPEG images or HTML files. Any number of programs can create those, but a specific JPEG image was created by a specific program.
thescientist
It still begs to know, why haven't you just reached out to the provider of the file? This entire discussion is theoretical, why don't you just ask the source?
