  2. ok.i get you loud and clear this time.now you are really sending me back to work huh? lol- smile. well, i'll go do just that! work on it!but the lil inner black glow i have in the tabs- i did not want to take it right down to the bottom because i wanted it to blend back inwith the color on the left navigation. but i guess the idea may not beworking out too good.thx much again. i'll try to upload a corrected version sometime later- afteri finish proof reading 25 pages of words- no coding... hhmmmm.....
  3. hey vchris, thx for the critique. the sitemap- not finished. i'm not sure what u meant when u talked about the image for the horizontal nav- the bottom part seems just a solid color. i was trying to look at the site and pin point what u meant- but i'm not sure... so help me out here plz.does the jagged look looks like it was intended? or like it was suppose to be otherwise? i see i need a big fat crash course in graphic design though. hhmmm.... the tabs images i can definitely identify with u-- they do kinda look... well... not too smooth. lol.well- i'll dig into your observation. i'll go work on those images!thx much.
  4. plz look at my new thread... which somewhat continues to look at the progress of the site developmentthx...post any new comment in the new thread plz.most recent update

Click to see the most recent updateI did some work on it over the past days. tried to get as much functionality as possible.I'll also like some crititique/ comments on the header image- I had/ have a hard time trying to design something for it.Well, it's in your courts now- throw the critiques at me again- I'll take them all.Still have a lot of work to do on it-- I'm not a pro, but I'm trying my best!Thx all...
  6. just use any image u have on your pc and try it.background:#ffffff url(img/mydog.jpg) repeat-y; .... for instance. (if the image is in a folder outside of your html/ css document, just make sure u include the folder name(s) followed by a slash.send back your updated code lets look at it.
  7. You are right smartie! age and looks shouldnt matter. and it doesnt for me. but, unfortunately- it does influence how ppl perceive u at times- thats the unforunate reality of life. as u get older- you'll see it more n' more. but u can pm me on this so we dont lose focus of the thread. lol.but i'm happy that u and boen and all of the other youths have found something that you really enjoy doing and has a promising future career wise as well, and keeps u occupied. so, i say- hip hip hurray... dont stop learning. its funny, but the more we learn in life, the more we realise we dont know much! hmmm....anyway- back to the topic- i'll try that and see how it works ok. thanks much.
  8. ahh... i see. thx for the IE7 feedback. i'm working on removing all those empty p's and br's. will get there soon... along with going through the validation thing.how did i get the 3 column? lol. i literally glued myself to the css tutorial and read it ear to ear and tried ALL the examples. then read it through again. did some fooling around and trials. read again and tried to do things as i read to see how it works. then decided to redo a site i did a couple months ago with css... was originally done using only tables. and now here is where i am. still got a lot of things to learn though- as you could see.well- i have my pc resolution set to 1152*864. i increased it just to test and thought the site looked a lil' small. oh well...so u just turned 17 huh? hmmm.... so now i've got another one half my age teaching me. em em em... so i've got people twice, 4 times, 50 times and 100 times younger than i am teaching me! i quit!!! lol. haha. just kidding. thats kool. keep up the great work!!! i have not uploaded any new changes-- want to upload something with some significant changes- i'm working on it.
  9. so reportingsjr, you are really 14 huh? lol. young and very knowledgeable i see. i see you have a very bright future ahead of u somewhere in the IT world already! but try your best to balance with the school work though- it might come back to haunt you somehow.thanks for pointing out the error- yes, its suppose to be papyrus. i'll go n' fix it.ps- i'm not sure how it feels having someone twice as young as i am teach me. lol. just kidding. keep up the good work. just try to balance with the school work. ok- here is a question i have. how do i get the entire site to display at 80% on any computer, rather than having a definite size? why- i find that when i increase the screen resolution to a high setting- the site looks real small. any suggestions? thx
  10. just giving the new link to the site- the IE tabs problem is fixed.Look herei'll try to tidy up and upload a close to finish site in a few days.
  11. hi,*i think that your main problem lies in the image url. i tried it and it did not really work. i changed the images to some i have on my pc- and it worked.*your background-color needs the "#" sign at the beginning.*and i think u should take quotes (' ') from around the image urlalso- ur css file layout is hard to read as you have it spread across. try this easier to read layout instead: body { background-color: e3e3e3; background-image: url(http://www.solut1on.dedihostplus.com/ciberon/CSS/1-Simple%20template/img/bottom.png); background-position: bottom center; background-repeat: no-repeat; } p.title { background-image: url(http://www.solut1on.dedihostplus.com/ciberon/CSS/1-Simpletemplate/img/Header.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: top center; margin-left: 50px; margin-right: 50px; margin-top: 75px; } p.text { background-image: url(http://www.solut1on.dedihostplus.com/ciberon/CSS/1-Simpletemplate/img/txt.png); background-repeat: repeat-y; margin-left: 50px; margin-right: 50px; } best regards,Donna
  12. yeah- u guessed right!!!i got that IE problem fixed. i have not uploaded the corrected one as yet tho. a little later.i tried everything i could- until i eventually commented out a lil code i had in the css file for macs comps(html a {height:1%;}) in the leftnav and leftsubnav.so hey-- smile with me lol
  13. well- dont give up just yet! ur problem may be in the other browser rather than firefox- but thats besides the point.here is a site that i think is great. dont let the site design design turn u off--> the content is fabulous. i'm almost sure you'll find your solution there.click here for itgood luck,Donna
  14. thats sad!!! come on... u dont like firefox?? is there a law in your country that you should only use IE?? lol. just asking. haha.hhhmmmm.... thx though- you are still a great help!!!!and oh, the 'empty' <div id="contentbottom"></div> you saw actually holds the image design at the very end of the page. i dont know how else to do it- so thats what i came up with.i note you joecoolaug.but that new IE problem is not funny tho. it messed up my plans-- i was planning on officially starting learning php like- right now...
  15. my my my my my.... i am soooo lost. i thought things were going soo well- until i saw those tabs stack on each other on either side. and yeah- i JUST saw it. firefox and opera shows it good- IE-- hmmmm...yeah- the first version was tested in in IE6-i checked back to see at what point. it got to be yesterday... in the latest update. i think what i modified then was the 'topmenu', the 'leftnav' and the 'leftsubnav'. what i basically did was to put then in list among some oher lil stuff.
  16. aaawwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ok- that was a scream. for whatever reason i have not been using IE for the past 2 years. (use to get a lot of virus and problems with it- and i'm not the only one using this pc). i have it disabled right now. somehow i just decided to force open the site in IE6. and i tell u- the site is very messed up in it!!!!!!!!the top tabs are stacked vertically on each other on the right side.then there is a wide gap in the middle.then the tabs without the names are piled up again on each other on the left side.i have no idea how and at what point that happened.i know that u guys have beeen real sweet in assisting me. and i am really greatful for that. but i BEGGING even more for your assistance.what? what? what?my guess is that it has something to do with the topmenu, leftnav and/ or leftsubnav... cause those are what i was fixing the last time- yesterday. i'm trying, but...ps- it displays good in firefox and opera.... terrible in IE 6... and perhaps other versions of IE i guess.http://tester-page4.ebdadventist.org/
  17. well- 2day is ur lucky day. i was not looking 4 it. had some css bookmarks and was going thru them 2 find out something. came upon this site and immediately thought about ur question. it basically said what i was trying to say above. look at it here.best regardsDonna
  18. uhhhh... i'm perhaps the least to answer ur question because i'm just starting out with css.but perhaps u can try a repeat-y for your background-image for the main content, then use a matching background-color for your side menu.with that- no matter how much content u have- it will always look the same- perfect.
  19. well- my thoughts have been verbalised already- set bg to 100%
  20. ok boen_robot,i tried the stuff... and here is what i came up with... i changed the inline links in the left navigation to listsi also changed the topmenu to lists... along with some other lil stuff...is the text above the serachbox still too big in IE7?i was trying to place stars infront of the topmenu list- but its not working out too well. i tried using list-style-image, etc. resorted to using a background, but.... as u can see.i dont know if the approach i took to creating the sub menus is the best way (but its functional): http://tester-page4.ebdadventist.org/adventurer.htmlso- here is my progress:first design: http://test-page.ebdadventist.org/updated version: http://tester-page.ebdadventist.org/new version: http://tester-page3.ebdadventist.org/present version: http://tester-page4.ebdadventist.org/the working links are the church ministry tab--> adventurer and its sub menusshout back at me ya'll... and tell me upfront your thoughts.
  21. i'm working on it boen_robot,i wont be in 2day- going to an athletic sports (em em... just to watch- lol). will look at it more when i get back.i'll surely pm u if i need assistance.thx
  22. well- i think here is the perfect place to learn. plus, u have forums where u can go and ask for help.i personally started using the css tutorials here a few weeks ago. i have now built my first css site. it may not be perfect, but for a first try- i feel good about myself.http://tester-page4.ebdadventist.org/still under development (most links not functional as yet)i am planning on starting their php tutorial next week. so, for me- here does the job!
  23. hey Skemcin,i thought about your suggestions and took them on. i used less space at the top header. i gave the bottom a more finishing look. and i made the writing in the header more readable.so- i've come a long way i see- simply by listening attentively!first design: http://test-page.ebdadventist.org/updated version: http://tester-page.ebdadventist.org/new version: http://tester-page3.ebdadventist.org/ps- nice design u have on ur site.let me know what u think- ur honest opinion. if it doesnt look good- tell me!
