background not repeating relative to menu

Hello,I've got template problems that seems to be a possible CSS issue? I need to set the article background's background called "middle3.jp" repeat all the way to a little past the menu on every page? I don't want my menu running off the background... I thought it would be possible to use the css min height property to make the background extend far enough below the menu.
