POWERPLAY27
Hi guys, I created an animation in flash whereby I have displayed text of services I provide, such as web design, web marketing, multimedia, repair and maintenance etc..... Now I have used a classic tween to move the text from one side to the other, but it moves too fast, now I have tried to reduce the fps, but the movement is slow and its not the effect I want.I want the text to move slowly, but smoothly from one side of the screen to the other before the loop starts the process again. Ingolme
To slow down an animation you need to add more frames. It's easy if you're using a motion tween.
POWERPLAY27
Thank you I managed to slow the animation down, but it does not run as smoothly as I would have liked. As the text moves from the right to the left, the text has a blink effect as it passes through. Edited January 5, 2013 by POWERPLAY27
POWERPLAY27
Here is another idea I have......I am thinking of this animation where if I place the mouse cursor on a particular text area say for example, web marketing, the animation stops, and I can click on it to load up a web page detailing this service. I know how to do this in flash, but is there better software now used for animations etc..... I see many websites with nice animations, but they don't look like they are made in flash? Kind of confused. I'm so angry right now with flash. With my text moving from right to left I added bullet points to each word, when the flash animation runs the text moves up/down from time to time as it passes through!Man why is Flash this frustrating. I just feel a bit beat down at the moment, I lost my job recently, I have nothing going for me right now, I just feel so lost in life. I am trying to improve my skills and hopefully I can find a job soon, but man this is so depressing.I want to learn something to get my confidence back up, but I am just so frustrated right now! :-( This is what me and a friend is currently working on www.sign-technologies.net Trying to build our own business, not going to be easy given so many people know web design, but my friend is good with the back end of things like asp, php etc..... I am trying to learn the graphic side of things. I don't exactly know how helpful you guys are to a potential competitor, but I need to learn this stuff, just like you had to learn it at one point. Please help me, thanks! Edited January 6, 2013 by POWERPLAY27
marry
Add frames. And I would suggest you to see the tutorial on lynda. So that you would learn more and more about Flash!
POWERPLAY27
Have a look at my animation now (click on the link to my website in the above post), I have now added some bullet points to my flash animation, but the animation is not as smooth as I would like it to be, the text is blinkering as it goes past the screen. What software should I be using for the graphic side of things?I mean flash is now dying right? Where should I be focusing my attention to improve on the graphic side of things? POWERPLAY27
It seems it takes ages to get a response to problems, someone care to help or advise??? Edited January 15, 2013 by POWERPLAY27
justsomeguy
I don't see the issues you're talking about with the animation, but a few things come to mind. One, it's never a good idea to have a splash screen or intro page for a website. People stopped using those a long time ago. The general rule is that if you have a page with only a single link on it, just remove that page. People don't want to see that, they want to see your site. Two, you can do most of what you're doing with the animation using canvas and Javascript for browsers that support canvas. That may give you a wider overall audience than using Flash, especially on mobile devices. If you're not concerned with mobile devices then Flash is probably fine, but use it sparingly. A marquee, for example, doesn't need Flash, you can just use regular Javascript for that and then search engines will be able to find that text also, and it will work in all browsers. Search engines won't necessarily look inside Flash movies for text.
POWERPLAY27
Thank you for your response, I will bear that in mind and have to look into doing things using that method. What software should I be looking at to learn to use to create a image similar to this? Edited January 16, 2013 by POWERPLAY27
justsomeguy
Any image editing software. Photoshop, GIMP, etc.
POWERPLAY27
I didn't think software such as Photoshop could produce such an image, I thought I needed a graphics design program to be able to use tools to help me create a nice graphic image. I'm in the process of learning to use blender. Edited January 17, 2013 by POWERPLAY27
justsomeguy
Photoshop is a graphics design program. There are plenty of programs that can modify images, the difficult part isn't which program to use, it's having the experience and knowledge to be able to create it. That's what graphic artists do.
