LaC0saNostra
Hello everybody. I have been learning how to validate forms using JavaScript but I have never attempted this with checkboxes that I have. How do I set up validation for my checkboxes or what is the format to doing so? I have looked at some tutorials but I am still a little confused. My other validations work properly. Here is my code:

Help Request

Help Request

Do you have any specific questions you would like to ask us? Please do not shy in being honest. We personally reply to every question asked because our team believes that the users are what keep us going. As always, thank you.
 E-mail:

Question:
Briefly describe your question here

Details:
Fill in the details here. scott100
see example here: http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/tryit.asp?filename=tryjsref_checkbox_order because you have 2 inputs with the same name (contact) E-mail
Phone Number

you will need to use a for loop to cycle through the inputs function validateForm(){var contact = document.forms[0].contact; // Name of input elementvar count = 0; // count is zerofor (i=0;i<contact.length;i++) //loop through the contact checkboxes { if (contact[i].checked == true) // has the checkbox been ticked? { count += 1; // The checkbox has been ticked so add 1 to the count } } if (count == 0) // if count is still zero then nothings been ticked.{ alert("Please tick a contact box"); return false;}......... dsonesuk
You should use .elements to loop through each form input element, consider adding a class that would identify it as being 'required', and add title to each input to use for alert warning message this is one i set up before, ages ago

Untitled Document
/**//*---->*/ function validate_this_form(form_elem) { var parent_form = document.getElementById(form_elem.id); valid = true; var RadChkNameArray = new Array(); var RadChkGroupCount = 0; var RadChkNameCurrent = ""; var errormessage = ""; for (i = 0; i < parent_form.elements.length; i++) { var search_result = (parent_form.elements[i].className).indexOf("required"); LaC0saNostra
Guys thank you so much for the advice. I actually went with the for loop and got it to work in my page perfectly. Scott100 thank you for showing me exactly how this is done. Also dsonesuk thank you for your perspective as well on this.
