Really weird ad blocking behaviour

Hi,

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong topic area.

I have just observed the weirdest behaviour of Ad Blocker Plus (ABP) when used on w3Schools.com.  For reference I'm using Google Chrome browser on a Windows PC.

By default, ABP is on, and I've never had w3Schools prompt me to turn it off to get better service.  But, after noticing the behaviour I just saw, I turned it off and counted about six advertisements on the page, which is absolutely fine, and I can live with that, so ABP is OFF for w3schools.com content.

HOWEVER: With ABP turned ON, on some pages the count of blocked ads that appears on the ABP icon shoots up, and keeps going.  It doesn't go constantly.  Sometimes changing tabs results in a jump in the number of blocked ads.  I've seen ABP count hundreds of ads on a single page over time.

What is going on?

I have only recently become aware of malware that can inject code into web pages in the Chrome browser.  I think I have stopped that, but I can't be sure.  It's not picked up by anti-virus and malware scanners.

I would imagine that it would be different ads from one page to the other, which also change on each visit so it would increase. Guess you need to turn ABP back on then. I always have it on and if website complains, well i just go somewhere else.

I now use Ghostery instead of ABP. I've had no issues with this and it's not detected as much by websites which choose to block you with an overlay if you block their ads.
