Problem with MySQL

I tried installing MySQL on Windows XP Professional, but it didn't work. I already have Apache HTTP Server 2.2 and PHP 5.2 installed. Could anyone tell me how to install MySQL 5.0 properly because I didn't really understand the steps from the manual.

Have you tried using a one-click installer like XAMPP? Works like a charm. Also, there are some things which need to be handled differently in Windows XP. You need to change a dll file or something.I would be tempted to uninstall the Apache and Php and use XAMPP or an equivilant installer.

I don't think anyone can re-state what the manual says to make it any more clear. I followed the steps in the MySQL manual and got it working after a little bit of time. Expect to spend half an hour to an hour getting it set up, but go through the manual and have patience.
