  1. WHEN NECESSITY DICTATES A DESIGN, THE PRODUCT LASTS FOREVER. Eight (8) years later AND I started linear/multiple browsing in NotJustBrowsing¬ģ (2005-2006) {most recently "NotJustBrowsing Desktop" (2015)} and I hope my new technique will supersede linear browsing. Nothing lasts forever.
  2. The way Google dumped usual MS Windows dependent user interface indicates that Linux or other OS versions of Chrome may just be round the corner.
  3. I think it was some other address in my clipboard that i wanted to paste in Google's Chrome. Thanks. It did crash on ":%" too.
  4. Yesterday it was crashing just by clicking right mouse button in address bar but today it isn't. It may have been updated live by itself or what?
  5. Design in a way that his business grow and he comes back for further development. In this case you can charge minimum (say £200) for now. Since you know he is going to grow due to your design, so he will come back soon and will be paying you more for further developments. Soon you will become part of his business, his success will be your success. He may also recommend others for your services.Your client must get value for money. If your work increases his profit, he will be happy to pay you more later. You can also link cost to produce those pages with his profit from your work.Keep your options open and don't let client go elsewhere.
  6. Just a guess, try with complete path instead of relative "video/liondance2007.wmv".

    C and C++

Kevin_M, would you explain why do you want to learn any of C, C++ or C# for?C is a functional language, C++ is a very loose object oriented language where as C# is strictly object oriented like Java.C++ found to be creating more mess than it is suppose to clear that is why world is moving away from it.Although there is no harm in learning C than C++ and moving on to any modern language afterwards. Once you are familiar with C++ you will realize that you can do all non-object oriented things using C++.

  11. I am talking about those programs which sit in between operating system and physical memory and compress in the way towards physical memory and uncompress data moving towards operating system.First link that I quoted earlier also described Performance issue in the days of 80386, 16MHz is not an issue now a days but directly accessing memory address bypassing security features of operating system may be.You are right, obviously nothing can be done except to add another GB of RAM if Adobe CS3 Web Premium ask for 1GB chunk of RAM at starting time. music_lp90 why didn't you looked at the requirements of software before ordering? It is like you ordered a sofa that is not going to fit in your house and now either you extend your room to fit it in or may be buying a suitable house to accomodate it.
  12. Don't be so sure without any reason. I used this kind of program at the time to double 2MB to 4MB but I am not sure if one of these programs evolved to double 1GB.http://www.macreviewzone.com/archive/hardc...views/RD9.shtmlhttp://www.tokyopc.org/newsletter/1995/11/ramdrev.html
  13. Google for "RAM Doubler" or "Memory Doubler" (one of which is http://www.lowtek.com/maxram/rd.html).These kind of programs use to work well in $25/MByte times.

It is due to my mistake of expressing one subject in two paragraphs. It should have been one paragraph. In above mentioned case of browsers and analytics tool, I was trying to point out commonality of knowing source & destination from given information. What other tools or software are there that can provide this information? For me, if I have the wealth of half of the world I will exchange it with the information that google is getting through analytics (i.e., source & destination). Who knows what, is the key to the domination in this century.

Yes, people are free to use Google Analytics but what I am saying is that people are not told that google will use this information only to provide you statistics. If they do guarantee, I will use their tool.It is like if Microsoft say to you that you are using my browser and you get what you request, so what if your requests go through my servers.Another way to look at it is if you offer your customers their website with your web statistics tool accessing your server, what will happen? Just in case if you have two such competitor customers, you can sink one of them easily by knowing their strengths and weaknesses. AND you choose to tell your customers only as much as Google is telling Analytics users.

Script in a page accessing Google servers points toEither some information is taken out by Google for some purposeOr some information may be added to complete statisticsOtherwise, a similar application running locally would have been sufficient to produce the same result using existing server logs.On top of Google's knowledge about the contents of every page, knowing the source and destination of information is more than sufficient for a variety of purposes. There are endless possibilities to utilize this information. If Internet Explorer's all requests go through Microsoft's Servers or Firefox's requests go through Mozilla's servers or NotJustBrowsing's requests go through my servers, nobody will use these browsers. I wonder why people are not opposing the use of such tool by Google?
  17. I did blame myself for not investigating the vendor properly because I never come across such situation before. Obviously in my case paypal is a facilitator with the vendor in dodging customers. After my dispute submition paypal knows what is wrong in the product, they should stop co-operating with that client. What I am saying is that Paypal's "dispute resolution" is a fake and gives wrong expression that Paypal helps in dispute resolution. It is these kind of things that demage internet sales growth and industry as a whole.
  18. Real experience: There was a software that I tried and its help was disabled until you buy it. I bought it and paid using paypal. As soon as I installed it and looked for Help, I found it in another language (other than english). I asked the author to refund my money and I don't want his software. The author refused to refund and told me to have as much help from him as much possible (very kind he was). I tried to use paypal's "dispute resolution" and they refused by saying that it is a matter of software. Although you may never have seen a software in more than one language, paypal was useless. So, in case money is coming to you, paypal is good, the flow of money in other way is your risk (in my experience).
  19. Microsoft is a difficult nut to crack. Above mentioned is from http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/control.htmMicrosoft changed everything including its web browser interface to kill the competition. MS changed its base of operating system to .NET (which is more like Java), re-defined its C++ and now abondoning it at all. In a year or two, we will see all Win32 things disappearing and that will hit very hard to all those leaning on Microsoft technology (including Gecko and the whole of Mozilla's Embedding API).So, practically Gecko ActiveX is usable for at the most two years from now. Keeping Gecko forward means re-writing it using latest .NET base and that may kill IE for good.
  20. This is one of my aims to initiate directness between parties of all kind. After all I was here to listen to what people say and I will act upon what I heard. I also found 39%, 26% and 46% (2005, 2006, 2007) of my visitors using Mozilla , which I should not ignore. What you are saying is within the design of my browser, not in its entirety though but it will be sufficient to pressurise all parties. Thank you for your loud and clear opinion, I hope the resulting product will be pleasent for all. This is one reason that I wonder arround in public and not for product advertisement. Now to show you that everything is not rossy, I am quoting Gecko ActiveX component's lack of implementation. I hope that you will pressurise other party to be active as well. Notice the amount of "System::NotImplementedException".
  21. If you want to keep track of what you have learnt in an organized manner, notes with each page. Have a look at NotJustBrowsing (dot com), it is designed for this purpose. You can save your links in the form of a book. If you may wish to ask any question from me, you are welcome.
  22. To tackle the companies like Microsoft, you should think smarter. Say, If in my software's next version I have two engines (Gecko, IE). And you people who are in terrible trouble, start writing web pages that are suitable for both browsers but can be seen best in the browser which support "Standards" (say Gecko). When people will see good looking pages in one and bad looking in another, they will use the one that gives them best result.Next thing "you people (the community in trouble)" can do is to raise the amount of money that you charge per page for making a web page compliant with (say IE). Because, it takes much more effort of yours.Pray that when Firefox become dominent, it may not play the same dirty game as the current dominent is playing.
  23. What I mean is that Gecko Engine in the form of ActiveX component, so I can embed it in my application. I have Mozilla ActiveX Control 1.7.12 downloaded from http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm which is more than a year old.If that version is OK for you guys, to be used in my next version? Or let me know if you know a relatively new version of it.
  24. I am working on providing multiple engines to choose from for each page, Can you please provide a link for Geck ActiveX ?I like Firefox too but the question is that can I embed Gecko successfully in my application without compromising its advanced functionalities? If I am lucky, you will see both engines in next version.Don't give up, disagreements are part of life too. Now I know how much trouble "you people" are in, I will try to ease some of it in next version of my software, if I succeeded in embedding Gecko (here I am not certain).
