  1. Here's what I got: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?><xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"><xsl:template match="/layout"><html> <head> <title><xsl:value-of select="header/banner"/></title> <style type="text/css"> ul li { display: inline; } </style> </head> <body> <h1><xsl:value-of select="header/banner"/></h1> <ul> <xsl:for-each select="navigation"> <li><xsl:value-of select="item"/></li> </xsl:for-each> </ul> <xsl:for-each select="content"> <h2><xsl:value-of select="heading"/></h2> <p><xsl:value-of select="text"/></p> </xsl:for-each> <p><xsl:value-of select="footer/lastmod"/></p> </body></html></xsl:template></xsl:stylesheet> It display correctly but the only problem is the for-each. The output for the nav is only the first list item. I then tried using <xsl:for-each select="navigation/item"> and <xsl:value-of select="."/> and this worked perfectly. But why isn't the way I have above looping?
  2. Thanks for your suggestion boen_robot! :)Wouldn't xlink be used for linking the items in the navigation? I'm starting my very first layout in xml, xslt and css. Updates to come.

I didn't really like the sims either but I liked all the simcities. I love FPS too. I owned at Call of Duty 1 rifles only and I play Call of Duty 2 but it's not the same as CoD 1.

Well if you're the kinda guy that liked simcity or the sims well it's your kinda game. I think the graphics look cartoonish a bit... but the gameplay should be great. He won a bunch of prizes already and the game is not even out.

    Spore

This PC game is suppose to come out in the 2nd quarter of next year. It's made by Will Wright (same guy that created simcity and the sims games). You start out as a microbe and you need to eat other weaker microbes to survive but you need to watch out for those tougher than you (sorta like pacman). After eating a couple microbes you get to evolve! You can modify your microbe (add legs, arms, tail, ....). You can really create anything you want. Then you can evolve on land, tribes, cities, planet and finally universe where it becomes the sandbox mode. For more info: http://www.spore.com/
  6. I have used Panda for a couple years. Sometimes I need to get cracks and stuff like that for my games. I get a pop-up by my antivirus that he detected a virus which should mean he has taken care of it. I got about 3 antispyware programs and panda firewall. I got lots of bugs when I exit some games I have (screen stays black, screen freezes, ...) I can't think of anything else right now.
  7. I am currently using my 2.4ghz pc with windows xp but I'm getting real tired of windows! There's bugs everywhere and a bunch of viruses. On the other hand I can play games on it and all programs I need are available for windows. I've been thinking of switching to linux or mac but I gotta keep the PC for the spore game that's coming out in may-june. I guess I'll be buying a mac for my web developing and multimedia and keep the PC for gaming.
  8. Don't worry it gets easier after some time. I barely get any compatibility issues anymore :)Nice work!

The government! :)Actually it's a governmental organization that includes many countries around the world including canada (me), australia, and others... They want something more conservative so I changed the colors to blue instead of black and they seem to like.
  10. I was wondering what is the structure when creating a website template in xml? Should it be something like this: <header><banner>Website Title</banner></header><leftnav><navlist1><link>list item 1</link><link>list item 2</link>...</navlist1></leftnav><content><heading>Header 1</heading><text>blah blah</text></content><footer><lastmod>03/10/2006</lastmod></footer> Of course I left the Xlinks out of this since I'm not that advanced yet.
  11. It's the same thing in IE 6 the page has a top margin it seems. Like he said remove margins/paddings on the header or on the body. In Firefox, the layout is ok.Now for the design. I think the stars in your banner still looks jagged a bit but it's better than before. Your top navigation could be better I think. I think it would be nicer if the looks wouldn't be simply black when not hovering them. Your content area is a lot better than before, no more jaggedness. On the right of the top navigation and top right content, I see a black border, don't you think it should be the same color as the background? That's about it.

Hey guys,I'm pretty much done with this template for work unless you think I should change something. I'm open to any suggestions or comments.http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/40533016/I don't have a server to host it on so this is only an image. The only hover effect is on the left nav, the text changes to white.EDIT: I just showed to my boss this design and it seems like it's not conservative enough he says... Basically he doesn't like black. I'm working on changing the black parts for somekind of blue. We'll see how it goes.
  15. hmmm 25 pages of word... That must be fantastic :)Edit: btw I should be done with a design in a few minutes. I'll post it soon.
  16. What I mean by your horizontal navigation is you know you have some sort of inner black glow in them and at the bottom the glow is gone and it's just a solid color. The corners of those tabs seems like they don't connect right with the curves.About those jagged images, they don't look like that's how they should look.I think the banner could be smoother also.I like smooth curves
  17. Seems like the images for your site are jagged. Especially the top and bottom content image and the banner. Also the image for your horizontal navigation seem to have a problem (bottom part seems just a solid color). On the sitemap page I noticed the content (text) goes further down than your content image background. Other than that I think it's pretty good.Tested with Firefox only.
  18. I'm pretty sure I'll buy one. I checked and the new OS 10.5 leopard is only coming out at the end of this year. So I'll probably buy it at the end of the year. Unless, is it possible to update to 10.5? If yes I bet it's with a fee.

so might as well buy an old comp and make it a server...

It is. I think this is more for the small business/home users. If you were thinking of getting a server well this is a cheaper and slower alternative but still for someone like me it's perfect.

This one is compatible with OS X and Win but it has a small Linux OS I believe I read that in the conclusion. I'm not sure if the HD is included but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't.

    Perl/CGI

Regular expressions maybe for regular perl programmers but chinese for me!

Yeah I think it does. I believe it runs on Linux and the HD is in the device that you hook up on your network. You have software included to backup, managing shares/users, managing photos and more...
