Ingolme
There is hardly a use for frames these days. If you're using frames, you're likely using old fashioned layout techniques. I only use frames for certain Javascript applications.
jeffman
Frames have a user-friendliness problem. Say you go to a site with a menu in one frame and content in another. You click on a menu and find a cool page. You want to bookmark the site so you can come back to exactly what you're looking at right now. You cannot.Yes, a smart user can find ways around that. But the guiding philosophy is that the user should not have to do that.Server-side includes can handle almost everything frames handle, do it more efficiently, and be managed in such a way that bookmarks are permanent. Synook
You'll have to redo your websites for HTML 5 anyway...

jeffman
@ Deirdre's Dad:can you show me how to do "server-side includes"?thank you!I can if your server language is Perl or (even better) PHP. If you're using ASP, say so, and someone else cane explain it.
