jimfog
What is exactly is the difference between a php webpage and a php script? Is it maybe the fact that the first contains html code in it while the second not at all?
dsonesuk
It defines them as using Apache server, and php server scripting, and not IIS, asp or asp.net.
thescientist
they're all scripts. it's just a matter of what you need to them to do, be it send an email, output HTML markup, or whatever.
jimfog
You mean that a php file(usually) does not output to the browser in contrast with a php webpage. I did not understand.
Don E
I would look at it like this: PHP webpage: Web page with php and html etc. PHP script: Basically mostly all PHP code ie. to process forms, send email, classes, etc.
justsomeguy
I've never made a distinction between "file", "webpage", and "script". It's just terminology. There's PHP code, it gets executed, has some inputs, and produces some outputs.
jimfog
The reason i made the post had to do with the fact that in Netbeans, when you go to create a new php file, among others, you are given the optionto choose either a php webpage either a php file. My post was based on the above.
Ingolme
I guess that if you start with a web page they'll put a basic HTML document structure along with the PHP.
