davej
Back in the olden days, if I had a file to send you, I could call you on the phone and tell you to turn on your modem. Then I would call you back and we would get the modems to connect. We could then transfer files directly using something like Procomm with a Zmodem transfer. The speed was a blazing 56kbps. Nowadays, if we exchange our temporary IP addresses, what software would be needed for the modern equivalent? Can we have a video phone connection? Ingolme
I think these days "I call you to the phone and tell you you have an e-mail with the file attached" is probably the best way.
justsomeguy
Now there are firewall and router issues, you would need to make sure that the traffic is getting routed to the correct place and not blocked. The connection would be done in software though, you would just need a program capable of making a peer-to-peer connection directly to another IP address. I'm not sure if there's a video chat program that does that.
