Well, to each his own. I've got my machine at home set up with IIS 5 on Windows XP, and we've got several servers at work with IIS 6 on them. I've got a friend who runs a business installing and virtualizing IIS servers for his clients. I've always followed the instructions while installing and it's always worked the first time, even with PHP.

in my opinion the only real difference between ASP and PHP, above the obvious differences in object model - is that one is commercial and the other is free. i believe strongly that one can do whatever you wish to in either environment - the determining factor would of course be the availability of capital funds for the venture. :)
