"Not many" is sort of relative. There are almost 50 million web servers out there running IIS, and presumably ASP. There are about 108 million running Apache.

I find IIS servers confusing to setup, so I just use PHP and Apache instead

That's odd, I've always set up IIS myself, be it with ASP or PHP. I pay someone else to set up our production Apache servers.

Well, to each his own. I've got my machine at home set up with IIS 5 on Windows XP, and we've got several servers at work with IIS 6 on them. I've got a friend who runs a business installing and virtualizing IIS servers for his clients. I've always followed the instructions while installing and it's always worked the first time, even with PHP.

I like ASP more although that's only because I am not really proficient in PHP. But I'm learning it.

in my opinion the only real difference between ASP and PHP, above the obvious differences in object model - is that one is commercial and the other is free. i believe strongly that one can do whatever you wish to in either environment - the determining factor would of course be the availability of capital funds for the venture.
