  1. Technically, you can do it two ways.a.) using a server side include language (asp, php, coldfusion) you could dynamically generate the link using the referral url (which is search engine friendly)b.) use javascript <a href="java script: void(0);" onclick="history.back();" title="[back]">back</a>
  2. well, you can either ask him or wait fro him to send you the money to the rigth account - then you'll have it.
  3. If he logged into paypal and clicked "send money" and he typed in the incorrect address - that either is typo or your fault for not giving him the right address. In this case, it is possible to retract the transaction if the recipient has not accepted the money yet.In the future, instruct him to NEVER send money to anyone that way. ONLY send money from a PayPal invoice. This simply requires that YOU log in and use the "request payment" feature. That way if you type in the wrong address the recipient will simply not send you money (unless you happen to stumble across a fool). If you get it right, then the correct recipient will not have to worry about sending it to the right person as that is built into the reply process.

    Computer Desk

the second desk is for conducting meetings with people in the same office space. I can huddle three or four folks around it and all I have to do is turn around. I can lay project plans or site mockups out on the desk without anyone being in my personal space. Its actually a very nice set up. I can even run a second monitor over to the desk to let people sit there to look at things instead of standing over my shoulder - again keeping them out of my personal space - they have no need to see what else is on my desk (esp. other projects)
  5. I'm not sure if this will help you, but I use ColdFusion to create web services, it does all the work regarding the construction of the WSDL - all I have to do is write my queries or code that gets executed. I've made some pretty complicated web services without know really anything about them - sad, true, and I know not the best place to be in, but it works beautifully.
  6. I'd start with:<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=index2.htm" /> From there, you options are endless. In all honesty, I'd challenge them to justify why it is needed - at the very least in the respect they are requiring it use. Branding is one thing and I understand its importance. But there are better more effective ways to do then slapping it in a background - which, btw, is not a primary visual element so the concept already is contradicting their intent.Did they form a committee to decide what to do with the site or is it more informal?P.S. You're right, http://www.kemmererchamber.com/ need help - the image is over and incorrectly utilized - but be care when critiquing the image and its use - someone with a lot of pull is really attached to that image from the looks of it.
  7. I can understand and be sympathetic to your experience. I, however, had a good experience with the PayPal Resolution Center in my efforts to receive reimbursement for a product I never received. I'm not sure I would go as far as calling it fake, but it does not make it as easy as calling someone on the phone and asking for refund or store credit. Their system is built around facilitating the consumer to resolve the issue - the effort to create a dialog between the two parties involved by way of a automated messaging system. Admittedly, if that doesn't solve the problem, then you do have an up hill battle. But again, the post office is not going to stop mailing things for people just because the sender and receiver are not able to agree upon things - they are just providing a service. I do agree with you though, in a perfect world, paypal and the post office would choose not to do business with those individuals. But they can't afford to do that, cuz if it was a one time thing (not to say yours was) then they could be missing out on a lot of business. In any respect, I think this will work for andersmoen and I think your insight introduces situations to be weary of and should open any ones eyes to some of the challenges to doing business online.

ok, the monitor shelf sits on top of the two side shelves/drawers on the top of the main desk surface. The monitor section rests on top of that and is held in by two cam bolts. If you chose to skip this step, then the left and right side shelves would have those two small cam bolts holes - each. Additionally, there is a rear center support - again two cam bolt holes would be on the far back center part of the main desk surface. Now, in the picture, where you would expect to put the monitor, there is a cable hole/cover center directly below the monitor on the main desk surface - for your keyboard, mouse, etc but no holes in the monitor shelf. On the back sides centered at the top, there are also cable holes/covers - not visible at all from sitting at the desk.Personally, I like the monitor shelf and I find it useful for the router and modem on either side of the monitor, along with a picture of my kids, dogs, and wife when I have one of those awwwhhh moments.

I can't remember off the top of my head where the cable wholes are, bu tI know I installed I think three of those cable hole covers - but I think they are on the back site of the cabinet sections.
  10. I'll add another that I like:Name: EclispePrice: FREEPlatform: Windows, Mac, Linux, Sun Solaris, or anything that runs Java.Web Site: http://www.eclipse.org/Description: Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle. A large and vibrant ecosystem of major technology vendors, innovative start-ups, universities, research institutions and individuals extend, complement and support the Eclipse platform.Along with my favorite extension, http://www.cfeclipse.org, I'm warming up to a new development environment. Beats paying for Dreamweaver again.

Yes, you do not have to assemble the top monitor shelf and even keep the side draws at teh same time. What I recommend is one you get (if you get it) is to go on line and order extra screws and such - just to add to your tool box. I also ordered another shelf for the right side cabinet - got the hardware too, all for free just by using their online form. Pretty sweet. I chose, as I always do, to not install the keyboard tray as it always hits my knees (I'm 6'3'').My friend originally bought it on ebay. And, as I mentioned, a couple of pieces were missing but were replaced just by ordering them online (again free). I'm more than happy, and its not cheap construction, its heavy and sturdy material.Good luckre:http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=ID+L+W...ving+dimensions

A friend gave me this:re: http://www.id-furniture.com/livingdimensio...roduct_id=10012I built it in my basement and its sturdy and very nice. Plus, their support is great. I was missing pieces in the box that my friend lost (before giving it to me) and I used its online form and replacement parts came no questions asked - free of charge. Not sure the cost of the desk itself though . . .
  13. Would any of you have gone to the Post Office for a refund if you had used that method of sending money? That's all PayPal is, an online postoffice for money transactions. Its important to understand a few things - PayPal is nothing more than an online bank - not an online merchant. So, if person A buys something from person B and the transaction checks out, then the bank (paypal) will never have anything to do with any dispute between the two parties unless there was a financial issue - i.e. charged to much or charged to little. If a vendor fails to report the help feature is in french and you expected it in english - its not paypals fault - its yours for not full researching the product you bought - thats like blaming the weather man for the rain. Since PayPal is a bank, its not goingt o offer you protection like a credit card will - unless you subscribe to those services. You can't expect PayPal, or anyone else, to be your savior - you are on your own in this world.andersmoen, if ALL you are doing is conducting a transaction between yourself and a client (and in the future maybe more clients) then PayPal will work just fine without any problems. Its not PayPal that is the crook - unless you don't like th chunk of change they take from every transaction, its the users. If you are conducting business with people you "know" or have an ongoing business relationship, then any issue you have will have nothing to do with PayPal.NotJustBrowsing, I do not mean to pick on you, but I've heard that story a thousand times, and it is misplaced blame. You did business with a stranger, online, and you got burned - I've been there and it hurts, but it wasn't PayPals fault the guy never sent me the replacement hood for my 924.

    HTML Certification

CIW and WOW both have programs that are most notable. Any search you do on web certification will have a mention of w3schools, but without a formal governing body that is concerned about certifying anyone, its always going to be resume fluff.More Information on Web Certifications here:http://certification.about.com/od/webinter...bdesgncerts.htm
  15. I'd suggest doing what I did four+ years ago - get a credit card just for internet use - and nothing else - be sure you have online protection and your set - use it for nothing else and nothing else for online transactions.p.s. ask fro a low credit limit too, $2k to $5k that way you are not worried about a really rediculous situation ever happening - especially if you are doing more selling than buying.

    PayPal

You'll be looking and maybe paying for a script that allows your site to connect to what is called a gateway. The first thing I would do before going to paypal or authorize.net, is to look at your hosting provider. Typically a good provider will have preinstalled tags/extensions that connect with a vendor of their choice. If you are lucky, your client's merchant account will prefer Authorize.net AND your hosting service will offer the code pre-installed for free. If you're not lucky then your host might prefer payflowpro while your merhcant account prefers Authorize.net - in that case, you will need to find autorize.net net code to implement - and it will likely cost money.

Congrats, I really like your design.I think your homepage could have a welcoming message - left side in english and the right side in french.

    HTML Certification

Its legitimate, its just not widely accepted as any formal accreditation.
  19. You can use PayPal, its very reliable for most transactions. Google also offers a similar service:http://checkout.google.comOf course, the main limitation to both services is that the buy MUST have a paypal or google account (respectively). For the occasional purchase, some folks might not want to create a paypal or google account - that is why many folks have their own online merchant accounts. Naturally, that conversation would have already taken place if the decision to go with PayPal has already been made.In any case, its safe and reliable but successfully implementing the PayPal API is worth more than $100 - in my opinion.edit: I guess I should note, that with PayPal you can fully integrate the check out process or you can just dump them into the PayPal site with a trailing post back address. Either way, I'd still charge more than $100.P.S. If you use paypal, please put a disclaimer on all your orders that a user should NEVER click a link from ANY paypal email, even if they think its from paypal. Their popularity (like IE) has made them one of the most commonly spoofed emails and I've seen some really good work - almost fooled me once. Always instruct users to manually type paypal.com when they want to investigate something that an email might be reporting.
  20. I can tell you that what you are trying to do is well with in reason. Personally, I could do it but do not have time to at the moment - I have some pressing deadlines to meet. I'd suggest you give it a shot - otherwise you are really asking for someone to do alot of work that most would not be willing to do for free. But I could be wrong.
  21. you could use the first method depending on how much space you have to deal with in the <td>.You could always wrap your text in this <div style="float:right;">text here</div> but that will slap it all the way to the right and you'd haev to put that before the <select> tag. You've got three options and each have its advantages/disadvantages - which is best will depend on you over layout - the nested table is the least desirable if you are talking to hard core HTML standards people.
  22. the only thing I can thing of them meaning is wondering how much experience you have implementing websites and or your ability to jump into an existing site and figure things out so you can add more pages and/or functionality to it.I do not think it has anything to do with the written code, but more to do with how you can use HTML or how you have used HTML. I guess I might say, "I've build and launch web pages from scratch, I've taken existing sites and cleaned them up and/or added functionality to them, I've also made standalone webpages that I burned on to a CD-ROM for marketing purpose and programmed the autoload file to lauch the site in the users default browser"But thats me, I'm not sure what your experiences are.In any case, the safest reply is to ask them to clarify what they mean rather than guessing - you always want to make sure you are thinking about the same thing they are, especially in an interview or pre-screening meeting/calls.Hope this helps.
  23. I don't quite "get" your design, but that is beside the point. All you really need to do is use absolute positioning to place the black div with your content on the screen in that fixed location. Make everything else a background image in the body - if you save the image right it would only be a very small 2 or 3 color gif file.

    Newsletters...

Not only do you need information, but you need to include messaging that informs people how to unsubscribe - this is a US law that became effective at the start of this year. I'm not going to ask you how you got your list - mentioning that it is a newsletter implies that the recipients will not be surprise when they get it - anyway, watch your p's and q's on that whole thing. As far as message size, there is no standard as its been already mentioned. But just like screen resolution is to web design, email interface is to e-marketing. A general rule of thumb is that you should take a little less than half the currently accepted screen resolution for your emails.Today, there is a transition from 800x600 to 1024x768 so you have a little gray area here. Many companies still focus on 800x600 mostly because they have a fixed audience (i.e. members of an association). The more flexible companies that server a broader audience, are bumping up to 1024x768. So depending on your audience, your emails should be either 375 or 500 px wide.

You get what you pay for. If you have to go through a lot of decision making to figure out if you want to chose a free service like this, then you might be expecting a little more than you will receive. That is to say, I've never heard anyone put this much thought into a free hosting service. Why so much thought?I recommend crystaltech.com since they have enough of a variety to choose from. Of course you do have to pay, but their cheapest plan is $3 a month and you wont have the worries you have now. But there is a whole discussion on hosting services, I'm sure there are tons of free ones mentioned in there that members have given their feedback on - one recommendation is better than none. Give it a look - at the very least you lose and hour two of your life that you won't get back but it might save you from a headache lasting twice as long.
