    Vb.net Evaluation

Hi, for a while now, I have been working on a prgram to execute mathamatics held inside a string, e.g.:"2*(3-8/4)+6"when run returns8I was, however, helping a freind wiht some VBA recently, and it seems that you can use the 'Evaluate' functio to do this. When I tryed this in VB.NET, however, it wasn't recognised as a command. If anyone knows how to utilliase a built in Evaluation function, PLEASE tell me!Thanks!

    Anagram Solver

Hiya all!I am trying to build a basic anagram solver that looks through all possibilities for words, check weather they are true, and acts accordingly.Imput = "TAE"Word(1) = "TEA"Word(2) = "ATE"Word(3) = "AET"Word(4) = "ETA"Word(5) = "EAT"For i = 1 to 5If isRealWord(Word(i)) Then Ans(i) = TrueElse Ans(i) = FalseEnd IfNext' RESULTAns(1) = True 'Tea is a real wordAns(2) = True 'Ate is a real wordAns(3) = False 'Aet is NOT a real wordAns(4) = False 'Eta is NOT a real wordAns(5) = True 'Eat is a real word' OUTPUTAnagrams:TeaAteEatI need to have a function (isRealWord) that can check a wrod inside an external dictionary. If there is a downloadable dictionar DLL I can get hold of, please tell me, or how I could contenct to a Microsoft Word dictionary WITHOUT opening Word.
  7. Hi all,I am really getting into VB.NET now, but have hit a brick wall. How can I take an image (bmp) and replace any colour with a texture?I have found one way, where you make the colour transparent, then make a new image where you paste the texture opn first, then layer over the transparented original image. Public Class Form1 Dim g As Graphics Dim img, img2 As Bitmap Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load img = New Bitmap(200, 200) g = Graphics.FromImage(img) g.DrawImage(PictureBox1.Image, 0, 0) img.MakeTransparent(Color.Black) ' Remove Black img2 = New Bitmap(200, 200) ' New Imgage g = Graphics.FromImage(img2) g.DrawImage(PictureBox2.Image, 0, 0) ' Add texture g.DrawImage(img, 0, 0) ' Add Overlay PictureBox3.Image = img2 End SubEnd Class I am sure there must be another way, and help would be great.

Desktop. However, if you know how to use web apps, plaese inform me. I am testing the MSDN 2005 EXPRESS Web Development Software.I have built a website with a vb code included, and I want to place it my family's website. I have look around, and done a search, but I can't find any usful info anywhere.I am wondring wheather the .sln files (solutions) need compiling, but I can't find anything to surgest that. If you can't help, no problem. For now, are desktop tuff takes priority.Hope this makes sence...

    Compile Proplems

Is there any way of getting past that problem (eg. compiling in a way that means it will not require the framework to run?) other than packing the framework along with each app? Thanks

    Compile Proplems

Hi,I have noticed that any aplications I attemped to run on most computers, do not work. I am taking the exe file from the "Bin" in my project solution folder (VB.NET Express 2005). Is there anyother way to compile the porgram? - or what else can you suggest. Thanks in advance!
  12. Hi all, my brother and I are building a program which requires an inverse tangent function.Howerever, VB.NET 2005 does not contain an inverse tangent function.Any help with sovling our issue in VB.NET is welcome.
  13. Also, if you use dreamweaver, if you have to resort to notepad for one reason or another, then you have a major problem.Simply: you don't know the code!

    Base 36 converter

    Also, if you want underscores!...Here is the function: Function getvariablename(ByVal name As String) Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim var Dim tv As String = "" Dim tn As Integer = 0 Dim tvars(name.Length) As Integer Dim nvar As Long = 0 For i = 1 To name.Length var = Mid(name, i, 1) Select Case var Case "a" : tn = 11 Case "b" : tn = 12 Case "c" : tn = 13 Case "d" : tn = 14 Case "e" : tn = 15 Case "f" : tn = 16 Case "g" : tn = 17 Case "h" : tn = 18 Case "i" : tn = 19 Case "j" : tn = 20 Case "k" : tn = 21 Case "l" : tn = 22 Case "m" : tn = 23 Case "n" : tn = 24 Case "o" : tn = 25 Case "p" : tn = 26 Case "q" : tn = 27 Case "r" : tn = 28 Case "s" : tn = 29 Case "t" : tn = 30 Case "u" : tn = 31 Case "v" : tn = 32 Case "w" : tn = 33 Case "x" : tn = 34 Case "y" : tn = 35 Case "z" : tn = 36 Case "_" : tn = 37 ' simply add to the select case, and change al 36 to 37 etc to add new punctuation. End Select If tn = 0 Then tn = CInt(var) End If tn = tn * 37 ^ (i - 1) tvars(i) = tn tn = 0 Next nvar = 0 For i = 1 To name.Length nvar = nvar + tvars(i) Next getvariablename = nvar End Function Also, if you need to increae the number of variables, just increase the size of 'vars' (the array).

    Base 36 converter

    Hi all,With VB.NET (and C#, i think) you cannot 'use' a variable by pluging in its 'name' to something. Hope this makes sence.Anyway, I created a Nase 36 converter system that should alow you (with VB.NET) to do the above.Place this function into your code, and also the 'vars' array: Dim vars(1000) Function getvariablename(ByVal name As String) Dim i As Integer = 0 Dim var Dim tv As String = "" Dim tn As Integer = 0 Dim tvars(name.Length) As Integer Dim nvar As Long = 0 For i = 1 To name.Length var = Mid(name, i, 1) Select Case var Case "a" : tn = 11 Case "b" : tn = 12 Case "c" : tn = 13 Case "d" : tn = 14 Case "e" : tn = 15 Case "f" : tn = 16 Case "g" : tn = 17 Case "h" : tn = 18 Case "i" : tn = 19 Case "j" : tn = 20 Case "k" : tn = 21 Case "l" : tn = 22 Case "m" : tn = 23 Case "n" : tn = 24 Case "o" : tn = 25 Case "p" : tn = 26 Case "q" : tn = 27 Case "r" : tn = 28 Case "s" : tn = 29 Case "t" : tn = 30 Case "u" : tn = 31 Case "v" : tn = 32 Case "w" : tn = 33 Case "x" : tn = 34 Case "y" : tn = 35 Case "z" : tn = 36 End Select If tn = 0 Then tn = CInt(var) End If tn = tn * 36 ^ (i - 1) tvars(i) = tn tn = 0 Next nvar = 0 For i = 1 To name.Length nvar = nvar + tvars(i) Next getvariablename = nvar End Function The function alows you to send of the 'name' of the variable in base 36 (0-9 & a-z) and it returns the deinary value, wich you then plug into the 'vars' array.In effect, this means you can have almost any variable name in the array. TRY IT!I have tried it out, and it works fine for me...Example of usage: vars(getvariablename("cool")) = "Hi" MsgBox(vars(getvariablename("cool"))) vars(getvariablename("oolc")) = "ME!" MsgBox(vars(getvariablename("oolc"))) This returns a message box with the text "Hi", then another saying "ME!"If the code doesn't work, or can be improved, please leave a post here.
