So far people have been really helpful here and I thank you.Just a small question, do you guys think (X)Html and PHP go well together? Guest Seeker1982
Hi,I found this Forum after a searching the Internet for courses on how to be a website designer. Im planning a change of career from office worker to website designer. I like the challenge of the work career and earning prospects.Am I correct that in order to get a job as a web designer you need the following qualifications- HTML, Javascript, XML, ASP and PHP certifications? I know some experience is necessary as well. Thats why I am going to offer my services for Free(part-time weekend or evenings) to local small website design companies after I have passed the first HTML certification. Does this sound like a good enough plan? Also I am going to keep saturday mornings Free to work through the w3schools tutorials. This will ensure I keep the snowball rolling.Regarding the lesson content here at W3schools I really like the clear instructions and practise modules. They make it easier to understand than what is taught at some other paid for "online courses" and even local colleges who use too technical explanations to explain everything.Currently I am halfway through the HTML modules and will let you guys know when I have passed teh HTML Exam.Cheers to W3schools,Simon

taaron12
Hi guys! I'm here trying to learn how to get a website up, so I can host my various projects and reviews. I took a web designing class as part of my animation courses. It wasn't that bad, but things have really changed since then. Especially with CSS, I never did get to study that, so I'm doing self-study. I'm slowly getting a grasp on it, but I have a few questions still. I hope ya'll don't mind if I go into the CSS section and ask them now.

GregInChrist
Hello everyone. My name is Greg Zimdahl. I own a small web development business called Milwaukee Productions. I am a Christian, I was born again when the Lord showed me that he was real. I asked God, before I went to bed one night, if he was real and wanted something different for my life. This was after becoming depressed due to drinking and drugs. The next day I man came up to me and said... (and I quote because this still amazes me!) "I don't understand this but the Lord is telling me to give this to you" he then handed me his bible. God has shown himself to be alive, true, powerful, and caring for us since that day. So needless to say Jesus is a big part of my life. Beside the Lord I do enjoy learning more about web development. Currently (Sept-4-09) I am trying to learn oop php as best I can. I am always on the look out for the best practices because I want to give my customers a quality product that they can be pleased with. I joined this forum because it had a place for many different languages and because the lessons on the site have been a real help. I have for a long time wanted to get together with other developers, I just never really liked forums for some reason. I figure I have to get over that though. I look forward to being able to share idea's get and provide help and resources. I hope sincerely that you will find grace to see your sin and need for Jesus Christ. To enter heaven we must be perfect, we all know we fall short (just as the bible says). However that is the free gift of God... Perfection through Jesus Christ, for Jesus took upon himself the sin of the world and imputes His righteousness to anyone who will trust in him for their salvation. Jesus is the only way to heaven, not by works, not by any other way... But but trusting in Jesus Christ. If you trust in the Lord you will be born again and Jesus and heaven are yours forever! Bless you in the name of the Lord!
webdev.au
Hi everyone,Been a web developer before, way back when HTML 3.2 was considered a good thing and the browser wars were going on. I was a teenager then, just got my first job.Eventually I specialised out of that area and went on from HTML, JavaScript and ASP to programming and then to networking stuff. That was back when there were good jobs going around and it was pretty easy to get one if you could do the stuff, no degree required.Anyway, forgotten a lot and learnt a lot at the same time over the years, I'm pushing 30 now, studying at college and I'm planning on doing the w3schools.com Certifications in HTML/XHTML/CSS, XML, JavaScript and PHP + MySQL. I plan to do contract work and become a college instructor, write books and do lots of websites. Website development is becoming more attractive since there's a lot more to it now of course! One of the first things I want to do is write an app with a control panel to tweak lots of things and add bits (or not) that automatically generates standard-type websites. Takes the boring start bit away (I hope) so efforts can go into getting on with the website. Most of the time I can be found with my iMac or laptop with Debian GNU/Linux drinking lots of coffee, chain smoking and coding... *cough* I've got to give that up.Hope I find you all well, I'm sure there are lots of experienced people here we can learn from, every bit as good as a google.
